One of the most dynamic and exciting opportunities BASS has created for young anglers is the Junior Bassmaster World Championship. Just like mom or dad competing in the BASS Federation Nation club competitions, this program allows junior members to compete at a club level, ultimately qualifying for their Junior Bassmaster state championship.
The competition program mirrors the BASS Federation Nation tournament structure, with one exception. Junior Bassmasters do not have Divisional competitions. Through state competition, Junior Bassmasters can earn a berth in the Junior Bassmaster World Championship, a Bassmaster Classic all their own.[/IAnd guess where this World Championship takes place? At the Bassmaster Classic, of course! For two days, pro anglers competing in the Bassmaster Classic serve as mentors and boat captains for the juniors, piloting the high-tech Classic rigs from take-off until weigh-in. The pros are randomly paired with the junior competitors for the competition.
Day 1 of the JBWC is a practice day during which both the juniors and the pros enjoy a day of fishing and an exchange of fish-catching information. Day 2 is the official tournament day. Once the tournament begins, the juniors select their own fishing waters and operate everything but the big engine. The pros merely chauffer the juniors around.
More than $27,000 in cash, scholarships and awards are included in the prize purse, plus two fully rigged boat, motor and trailer packages from Triton/Mercury for the two champions.
Junior clubs are sponsored by adult Federation Nation clubs, and the adults act as mentors and educators for these young anglers. Junior members gain skills from how-to clinics, educational workshops and time spent with more experienced bass fisherman. They can also get involved with youth and conservation efforts. It's a great way to pass our love and appreciation of the sport down to the next generation.

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
