That is interesting to say the least. I wonder how it will affect the dick's sporting good in the area as well as BassPro right across the river.
I'll definitely check it out.

NICE! I've found Cabelas to be more geared to the hunter and camper but obviously has great fishing equipment too. They're sales are much better than BPS. This will be great for the area and reason for Bass Pro to step it up! I think the stores are just far enough away from each other to still stay relatively busy. Population and development in both areas and surrounding areas is going to continue to increase so there's more consumers for everybody. I'd say Dicks will be fine. The one in Clarksville still stays busy and it's a block away from BPS. They have a little different consumer target.

So how many small shops will that hurt?

There are not any small shops in that area other than Quest Outdoors that cater to the outdoors. There are no tackle stores (other than Wal-mart) within 20 miles and the gun shops shouldn't be affected to bad. I think it's great news they are building in Louisville, can't wait for it to open!![]()
BTW, if they ever build the east end bridge it will be about 10 minutes from bps. Should make for good competition.
This is exciting for me just for hunting clothing alone. Cabelas hunting clothes are head and shoulders above Bass Pros.
It will be about three miles from my house. I would rather it be a Bass Pro since I don't hunt but still will be pretty cool.
Hope this goes thru. The one in Greenwood Indiana they bought the land, ran utilities and then pulled the plug. That was at the beginning of our tanked economy.
Basscat!
YES!!!New Ranger dealer in town!!! Thank goodness!!!

You're absolutely right! I don't buy any hunting stuff from BPS as it all is terrible....Cabela's is the best when it comes to hunting gear!
The only down side to it is that now I'll have to pay sales tax on stuff from Cabelas...before I could just order online and not have to pay it![]()
Took the words out of my mouth. Cabelas house brand hunting clothing is far and above Bass Pro.
Awesome!!

I was really looking forward to them opening that one.Probably saved me a bunch of money.
I'll check out the one in Louisville when we go to BPS.

I work part time at Gander Mountain in Greenwood and was told the main reason Cabelas did not build was because they wanted a ramp built off of I65 essentially straight into their building.
City of Greenwood/state did not want to do that as where they were going to build was off of County Line Road which already has an exit.. That, along with the economy were the two main reasons Cabelas pulled the plug
