Just for Ha Ha's I'd try it with a 25 Trophy plus with a few differnt PVS plugs. Maybe 2 1/4 and solid. That thing should be a beast. better get some lessons from Hardcore.![]()

Fred, just for Ha Ha's. What will my speeds be compared to the motor I have on now? I have heard stories of loosing any where from 3 to 7 mph with the magnum gear case. I'm thinking I will still pick up a couple of mph by going to the larger engine even with the magnum. As for props, I have a 26 Raker, 26 Fury, 27 Tempest Plus and a
28 raker ll. Hopefully one of these will work without having to buy a new one. If not then I will get something else. Thanks for the help.

Worse case you will still pass Hardcore. Need to let it break in first. 26 Raker II may be the ticket. Just don't know until it gets hooked up. I'm sure you will be happy!

I know that Evinrude says you can run it right out of the box but like you Fred, I believe in letting them settle in. What do you recommend as far as break in period. I do value your opinion and recommendations. Thanks.

I'm not Fred, but I can play him on TV or on this internet forum.
Use common sense when its new. It will use extra oil for the first 2 running hours above 2000 rpm so watch the tank often.
Let the motor warm up about 4 minutes or more before putting the hammer down. Accelerate easily for the first 2 hours to help the lower unit gears wear in. Vary the rpm often, do not run more than 10 minutes at a steady speed when up on plane.

Thanks Seahorse, You have given me some very good information in the past also. Looks like just good common sense. That is kind of what I was thinking. I only ran xd100 in the motor I have now and plan on doing the same with the 225.

How is the lake level at Hartwell? Our water comes from the upstate plus down the congaree. Our lake is about 3 feet low but it is rising. Hoping you guys are turning some water loose. Thanks for all of the help.

Yes, ours does come down the Wateree and Congaree and feeds into Santee. For some reason I was thinking that water from Clemson and Greenville area fed into Lake Murray, which would eventually come down the Congaree into Lake Marion. Again, thanks for all of your help. Did get the motor installed today so waiting to get on the lake.
