5th Annual Battle of the Bluegrass

The date is up its April 25th and all the usual colleges are going to fish. I'm opening up a invitation to anyone that attends any of the other Kentucky four year colleges in the state to fish. If you are interested contact me at Richard_Cobb14@eku.edu and I will send you the information.

I start back to school at Morehead on Jan. 11th after a 4 year hiatus from the classroom. So does this mean I can come beat up on you Richard? Oh by the way, I have been out of school 4 years and you were at Eastern when I was at UK....heck, how many years have you been in school?

I would go on and get out of here if I had some competent people to turn things over too, but as I can see on this post there aren’t very many candidates… Plus it usually works where whoever wins the Battle of the Bluegrass has to do it next year and since there have only ever been 2 winners you see why EKU always has to do it. UK Bassman the opportunity has always been there to beat me you’ve just never decided to come through I guess….

just curious but didn't morehead win it a couple of years ago or something like that and hand the rights back to murry to coordinate?

Well that's why I put two winners, and the reason they won is cause they only brought on team and that team caught 18lbs. No Murry hasn't had the chance to host the event.

Best I remember they won it but never did organize the next one. So to answer the question you are hinting around at jarred, no one wanted to have it on gaysville lake up there in your backyard.

Re: 5th Annual Battle of the Bluegrass (buzzking)

No, The reason was our president at the time could have cared less. I contacted Card right as I took over presidency at Morehead and because of no contact from our last president Card (UK's president) took it upon himself to organize the next tournament and host it. I contacted him right around the time that he started heading it up and decided it was best for him to continue handling it. We discussed it and I agreed that it would be a bad deal to have it on Cave run as for distance for Western and Murray and the fact that a lot of teams showed lack of interest and participation to be on a lake like that where no one had a lot of experience. We tried to find neutral water which we did with Dale Hollow. Granted in April it would take 15+ lbs to win on Cave it's not a lake where a lot of people have experience and will not want to risk it. Plus he knew more about it at the time then I did. So UK hosted it last year because of lack of effort. Now I'm trying to get this club up on its feet so that they will never wind up in a directionless situation like that again. These are the factors that lead to last years direction.

The goal is total team participation at this event. Murray didn't participate because of the distance issue of it being on Dale Hollow. For this same reason of distance it may not ever make it to KY lake unless Murray wins and hosts because of lack of participation for teams who are far away. It will almost always be centralized. Sure people will make it out that far and I'd love to fish it on KY but it is out there but a lot of members would not be able to travel that far out. It's nice to move it around and yes KY lake has a good reputation which will bring out the more serious members of each team but it's a lot to ask of teams on the eastern side of the state. So back to Barren it goes which is a good venue for this tournament.

Cave is not dead though, it's tough but there are fish.

Best I remember the last, and only, time I fished against you I beat you like a drum down on Falls Lake in NC. You forget about that?

J/K dude, I am going back to school, but being that I exceed the age limit for most college fishing events I think I will leave that to you younger guys. Doubt I could hang these days anyway.

Not really. Maybe you and I should square off in an ultimate match fishing style challenge, that is, unless you're scared.....
