Water. Pull the prop and check for fishing line.
Chances are the o-ring around the driveshaft bearing housing is leaking and/or sand has worn the 2 seals.
The new improved o-ring is brown, not black. Be sure to replace both driveshaft seals and the o-ring, and your gearcase will be fine. If your motor is still in warranty, it is covered.
Your motor is now 5 model years old so change out the water pump while the gearcase is removed if it hasn't been replaced within the past couple of years.
