    1996 225 johnson tach/voltage

    trip 3 with this problem tach will work intermitently but at high rpm drops to 0 the voltage is at 16.2 as per gps/fishfinder direct hook to battery. it starts and runs fine. after first trip removed batt leads and cleaned an tightened lock nuts. today if I hit the trim or jack plate the tach would jump.but not stay up. help

    Sounds like a rectifier .... Look under flywheel as well to see if any tar looking substance is coming off of the stator...

    replaced and its all workig had her out this week all is well.
