just put a new upper bearing housing on it,stator.run it a couple times,10 mins total in a small lake when i set the high speed timing,16* at about 5000 rpm.motor had sat for awhile,so i pulled the carb drain plugs out to peek in,looked clean as a pin.and looked clean inside, what i could see.i put oil in the tank and marked the tank,it is going down, mixed the gas too, just like break in.now i went to the lake yesterday, ran it probably 15 miles, maybe 2 miles at wot just to see how the ol stratos would run.rest was 3500-5000 rpm.when i pulled the boat out i noticed the paint on the cav. plate is turning very very light gray where the exhaust comes out.could this mean i'm running lean or is it normal?runs absolutly flawless from idle to 5800 rpm.
