Re: 1999 Johnson Ficht Faststrike 150 HP (pbprice)

Best to keep looking unless you are wanting a learning project and have a lot of patience and money. When you talk to the owner he will say it has very few hours and has all the updates, right? Well, on the '98s and '99s, the updates didn't help a lot.

There are many older FICHTS still running but many dealers won't even touch them for service, parts are getting super expensive and hard to find, and they do not have ANY trade-in value. Call any dealer of any outboard and ask if they would give you anything in trade for it.

Not bad motors, but after having a 60* I don't think you would be happy with one.

Yes it would be a better choice than the FICHT. You would have to purchase a wiring adapter harness to convert your old big red plug to the newer duetsh style connectors on the 97.

Google 1outboard and their other names, blackbird outboard, A1outboard.

    Re: (pbprice)

A 2003 is a BRP motor and would be a better choice. Your controls would work but you need to add a wiring harness adapter to convert your harness to the new style, add either a system check tach or system check gauge and a new oil tank with a return line to it.

If it's in your pocketbook, and the engine checks out, that would be right up your alley. I went from a 95 carb 225 engine to a 03 225 and the difference in oil and fuel is more than worth the money, not to mention the TORQUE!!!!
