I have a 1992 Johnson 200GT. At the end of last year I had the boat running 6100 rpms at 67 mph (gps).
I then had some unfortunate luck, and had to have the lower unit rebuilt.
During the off season, I also replaced the throttle cable, and added a hot foot.
Now I can only get 5100 rpms. The engine is not sputtering or stalling and when I mash the pedal it cruises at 5100 rpms with a 25 pitch renegade prop. I switched props to a 24 pitch and could get 5300 rpms.
I pulled the plugs and they look dirty but not horrible, but I am going to change those anyways.
I opened up the crab and mashed the pedal when it was in neutral and they flaps opened up all the way.
After putting it away for the night my buddy called me and asked if it is in gear, if the carbs are opening up all the way. I will be checking that tomorrow, but any other ideas?
Thanks,
Tone
