    92 Johnson 200GT getting only 5100 rpms

I have a 1992 Johnson 200GT. At the end of last year I had the boat running 6100 rpms at 67 mph (gps).

I then had some unfortunate luck, and had to have the lower unit rebuilt.

During the off season, I also replaced the throttle cable, and added a hot foot.

Now I can only get 5100 rpms. The engine is not sputtering or stalling and when I mash the pedal it cruises at 5100 rpms with a 25 pitch renegade prop. I switched props to a 24 pitch and could get 5300 rpms.

I pulled the plugs and they look dirty but not horrible, but I am going to change those anyways.

I opened up the crab and mashed the pedal when it was in neutral and they flaps opened up all the way.
After putting it away for the night my buddy called me and asked if it is in gear, if the carbs are opening up all the way. I will be checking that tomorrow, but any other ideas?

    Thanks,

If it was running fine before the hot foot install at those RPM's then turning less RPM's after the hot foot install, I would recheck my work. Having the motor in gear would have no bearing on the throttle linkage.

the only work I did to the engine was replace the hand throttle cable with the hotfoot cable. And I took the carb cover off, and the flaps are opening up all the way but it seems like it nots getting enough gas to top out. It just cruises at 5100 rpms.

It has to be in gear to get full throttle with hand control, not sure about hot foot. but i would check that first. I would clean carbs because of this bad gas. also replace fuel line and primer bulb.

    Re: (CTBASSING)

I played with the throtle cable and could get about 1/8th of an inch more out of the flaps...I hope that helps. I am going to run it with the new plugs this weekend, and see what happens.

Could it be the fuel pump? Someone on the main board mentioned that, but a Johnson Fuel pump is PRICEY and I have 2 separate gas tanks!!!!!!
