    88 Johnson Water Pump

Was helping my uncle remove the lower unit from his 2000 Model 88 hp Johnson. Once all the bolts were removed from the lower unit the lower will only drop approximately one inch. On my Yamahas once you remove all the bolts the unit just slides off. What are we missing to get this thing to drop out.

Taking it off I do in neutral putting it back on general takes two people one to line up the linkage the other to move the shift lever a little. Just pay attention to which way the bend in the top of the rod is when you pull the lower unit off
