    2005 225 E-Tec Spark Plug Indexing

    Hey guys,

I've been a long time lurker on this forum, and have found some very useful information. I'm hoping someone can help me with a little snafu I've created for myself.

My 2005 225 E-tec was running rough today, and only reaching about 4500 RPM at WOT. I put the boat back on the trailer and pulled the plugs. After doing this, I realized the plugs are indexed. I didn't pay attention as I pulled the plugs. So could someone provide me with the procedure for indexing plugs on a 225 E-tec? Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the BBC.

See the marks on the plugs porcelain, this must face as close to the injector as you can get it, if the mark faces away from the injector place that plug in the opposite bank of cylinders.

I have a diagram I will try to post tonight.

Remember, if it does not line up on one head it usually will on the opposite head.

Rusty, how many plugs does it normally take to get a set indexed.

I got lucky. It only took me six plugs. Since they're $11 a piece, I would have been rather grumpy if I'd had to buy extras.

Is it safe to say that w/ the E-TEC, they DIDN'T do away with the requirement to index plugs and, therefore, it will require this practice?
