Bought a '93 Javelin last year with a 120 Evinrude...compression was exactly 115 on all 4 cylinders right before I bought it. It ate a piston 2nd trip to the lake after I bought it...honed the cylinder out and put a new piston and rings in that cylinder. Ran a tank of fuel (bout 20 gals) through it and checked compression. The numbers were 118, 117, 110, 105. The new piston cylinder was the 105. Just checked compression again for the heck of it and now it is 126, 126, 124 and 111 on the cylinder with new piston. Two questions...why did any of them go up at all? And why did the new piston cylinder only go up 6 when the others went up 8, 9, and 14 respectively? It runs just fine, but this doesn't make sense. Any ideas?
