    Removing Line from Reels

Well after I saw a little contraption you could purchase from Cabelas to attach to a cordless drill to remove line I started thinking about how I could make one myself. So while sitting on my throne I ran into a slight problem and ran out of toilet paper. Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding the answer was right in front of me. I finished my duties and then took the empty toilet paper roll and slid it over the drill and secured with tape. Then i taped the end of the line to the roll and started stripping away. I have now cut my line stripping duties down by an hour.

    Best of luck

I have a wood shop and always have short pencils laying around. Chuck one in the the cordless. Throw both away when finished.

Re: Removing Line from Reels (rdant)

I have the Cabelas gadget and really like it. Best of all I don't have to take an Exlax to change my line.

I use an empty line spool with a long bolt through it.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes. Go to there wire section and get one of the empty wire spools. Run a bolt threw it and chuck it to a cordless drill. The line will come of super fast and the spool will last for years.

Read this awhile back in another thread... The toilet paper roll works GREAT! I even have my 4 year old daughter saving empty rolls for "Important Fishing Stuff"

I also use the Berkley line stripper. I put all my wadded up old line in a box. When full, I take it to a local tackle shop that sends it off for recycling. Try not to throw your line in the trash. Find a shop that also participates in a line recycling program.

Re: Removing Line from Reels (Team Efusjon)

Another thing I have done, just before removing line using a cordless drill, lube your reel and let it free spin for a bit to spread the lube around while you are pulling off the line.
