    Removing brake line

Hi all. Ok, I know for a fact that my line is leaking from the rubber brake line going to the steel line that feeds to the back of the trailer. I disconnected the line at the bypass under the tongue and was able to remove the short steel line connecting the bypass to the rubber brake line going into the trailer. Now for the hard part. How do I get the rubber line out. I am pretty sure the whole assembly of the rubber line and steel one going back have to come out as one piece. So there is two options:

    1) Straighten the line out at the back where it comes out of the trailer and pull it forward out the front. For this I would need to remove the swing-away and risk damaging the steel line at the back trying to make it straight to pull it through.

    2) Pull the line back through the trailer. My concern here is that the rubber line fittings will not fit through the hole that the brake line comes out of in the back.

    This is a 2004 EZ-Loader Custom used for a ZX225 Skeeter.

    Thanks

    Re: Removing brake line (frogbite)

There is probably a bracket with a hole in it where the end of the hose is clipped in place. It wouldn't be normal to just have them connected and unsupported. Mine comes out of then tongue as a flex hose, then hits a bracket almost right away and goes to steel there.

No clip that I can tell. I can pull on the hose and see the line move at the back. So you would straighten out the line in the back and pull it through the front? I am worried about creasing the line in the back.

Very interested in this answer as well. It appears that the clips on the trailer frame can be carefully pried open enough to free the line. Then, with the spare removed, I'm thinking you can get enough slack to pull the rubber/metal connection out the rear of the tongue and access the connection. Mine (2007 Marine Master) has a short metal line from the solenoid connected to the rubber line in the swing tongue. Want to replace those with a single rubber line that the newer trailers use.

Mine does have the little steel line that goes to the rubber line which was easy to remove for me. I don't have clips as yours does. I am still concerned about not being able to get the rubber line fittings out of the hole at the back my trailer. There is no way for me to get to the back end of the rubber line without removing the whole assembly including the steel line.

Still waiting to hear from EZ-Loader for my case but Rex at EZ-Loader has been somewhat vague on what needs to be done but did say it pulls out of the back of the trailer which I am not 100% sure about.

I'm guessing from your description that you'll just need to disconnect from the Tee at the axle and pull the whole works back far enough to disconnect the steel from the flex. The steel is pretty rigid if you don't put a lot of torque on it.

Do you mean pull it back through front or pull the whole thing back out the back of the trailer:

Coming through the bottom like that at the back complicates things? Maybe if you take it forward a little and then flip the whole thing it might come out of that hole and then let you withdraw it toward the back. Kind of a pain the way yours is routed.

    Re: Removing brake line (CatFan)

I guess I am still not understanding. The upper picture is at the back. Do you think I could simply just pull the whole line back where the bend is and the rubber fittings will fit through that small hole? I don't think there is a chance that I could pull it forward through the tongue area unless you can straighten the steel line. The more I think about it, I think I just need to pull the whole thing straight back out the back of the trailer.

I will have the boat off of the trailer tomorrow for a tournament. What I will try is this... I will connect the line at the tee and put the boat in the water. Go fish (hopefully win the tournament), then at the ramp undo the tee with the boat off and try to pull the line straight back.

Still have not heard back from EZ-Loader on this. My contact may not be working today.

I was thinking maybe you could get it out of the hole in the back to make it easier to move the line. Hard to tell without seeing it.

    Re: Removing brake line (CatFan)

At the ramp today I tried to pull the line through the back. It was so corroded that it kept disintegrating as I was puling it out. I got 90% of it out but the rubber line and about 10 inches are still in the frame. I well try to fish it out tomorrow.
