    Lower Unit Paint Question

I purchased a lower unit that neeeds painted but can't find the correct paint I need. Lower unit is for a 1996 150hp Evinrude Intruder model #E150GLEDB. If anybody could let me know what I need, where it could be purchased and any other application advice that you may have, it sure would be appreciated. Thanks

    Where have you been looking?

paint numbers are listed in the parts breakdown of the motor. Any dealer should have it in stock or go to http://www.shop.evinrude.com and click on your engine's make, model, and year.

Re: Lower Unit Paint Question (B1Minus)

Seahorse hit it on the head. I just finished painting my lower Unit and the main thing to remember is to have patience. After preparing the LU for paint spray primer and let dry forat least 2-3 days before applying main paint. This will solve the spiderwebbing of the paint. Not that hard to do Good Luck. I have some pictures of the steps I took.

    Hope these help

    Speadtrap,

Wouldn't it have been quicker and a lot easier to just pull the prop and put some grease on the shaft, instead of wrapping and taping up the propeller before painting?

An empty paper towel tube would have even been quicker to protect the propshaft ! That would leave more time to hang around the BBC or AARP websites.

Aw, leave him alone. He is still young and full of vim and vigor. When I was that young I pulled the whole engine off my boat and repainted it with automotive base/clear.
Now, I would just use a rattle can to paint the engine and lower unit but, would still probably be more professional with the engine cover.

Re: Lower Unit Paint Question (SEAHORSE)

Seahorse, in the time it would have taken me to pull the prop go find the grease or the towel tube I got a wal-mart bag some masking tape rapped the bag around the prop tapped it up and started shooting the primer then the paint. Besides what ChampioNman said I am retired and got nothing else to do. Oh by the way I would like to say to you all you guys sure help us all amature fix-it-guys, Thanks alot.
