After ten years of reliable use the OMS pump on my Johnson 150 has given up the ghost and gave me a nice two hour night troll up Kentcky Lake last night.

My mechanic (who sold me the boat new and has been the only one to service it), has told me I have two choices, new OMS pump to the tune of $475 or rebuild the one I've got ( about $175) and mix my own oil since he doesn't recommend rebuilding the oil pump end.

I'd heard the VRO horror stories but mine even failed like it was supposed to with alarms.

Can anybody give me some advice here? Any pros or cons from experience?
