I have a 1978 terry, 430cm, 75hp 1978 rude. floor is shot, gel is gone. but motor has about 50hr and I found a old stock tm. i only have $300 in it boat motor trailor. used it all last season and it runs at 40mph gps with just me. cant go wrong. so how do i split the top cap? would epoxy paint work over old gel? any tips on what not to do?

Go to Admirality coatings.com ,they have a gel-over coat that I believe is a great product.They sent me a sample and it is amazing.
Nothing works that good over Gel............epoxies and clears for automotive are not made to be abused in the marine enviroment. If you do use epoxy better prep it 100 percent perfect and use a proper primer to get a good mechanical bond. Use Gel coat.
