How do you know when the powerpack is going/has gone out? Would all of the plugs on one side be dry why the ones on the other side wet?

Generally yes, hard to start in the water too. Model #?
-Its a 85 Johnson 150 GT.
-On a 84 Ranger 370V
-Plugs are relatively new(and not fouled).Plug wires appear well.
-I recently ran a can of Powertune directly through the fuel line so the carbs are clean. Followed up with sefoam in the fuel the next month and a cleaning o the fouled plugs.
-compresion check at 98 on all cylinders
-Boat sounds clean and smooth and idles well(all things considered)
-I mix my oil myself 50/1
-Biggest problem is loss of power especially on take off.Boat will go 50 yrds with nose in the air before it drops down(as if the motor was trimmd all the way up).Sometimes, I have to have my prtner lean forward to have his weight bring the front end down. Sometimes while on plane, the boat kinda "misses" and chugs then takes off smooth again but still dosnt seem to have 100% of its power.
I have 1 or 2 crossflow powerpacks I no longer need and if you want em or need em, just give me your address and I will send em your way,,,,might save yah some dough!!!!![]()
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill !!
Could my problem be the oil pump hose? Last spring I had it removed and a friend said it could be where the hose enters the engine. If that hose become unplugged, it could be sucking air and losing power?
The inlet for the oil line needs to be capped. Use a timing light to verify spark on each plug with the motor running in the water. No spark on that bank either a bad PP or stator. If no spark on one bank move the PP to the other side and recheck. If it follows the pack that is the issue. If it stays then you have a stator issue.
^Are the Left and Right PowerPacks interchangable?
OK. Im on it! But I worked all night and gotta nap awhile.I will hook everything up and test it this afternoon. I will check back with the results tonight.Thanks.
Well, I was wrong. All 6 plugs are wet and hot to the touch. Im thinking about just taking it to a mechanic and letting him go through the carb real good. I have heard that the carb cleaners dont always work. Maybe its time to get them rebuilt?
