I have a 1988 Cajun bass boat that my dad gave me after he was transferred to California. I had to drive to Mich. from Florida to get it but it was free. The only catch was the transom was soft. After I got it home I took it out a few times but due to concern with the motor falling off, it sat in a storage compound for a year and a half. I finally decided to take it on and fix the transom but due to my own neglet the front of the boat sunk into the dirt in the compound and pooled water in the front. Over the last few days I've ripped out the carpet and noticed some water damage to the center sub floor but after removing the center seat mount on the floor found that the center stringer is soaked with water and rot from front to back. I had planned on removing the cap to replace the trasom anyway but am unsure when to draw the line on boat repair. I have never done boat hull work but have a buddy that has offered to help. I did fire the 1994 150 hp Mercury up today on it and it runs good except it is in need of an impeller. Just wanted some advice to see if it was worth the work because I don't want to buy a new boat but would like fish it for obvious reasons of being my dads. Thanks
