I've read many many posts here on restoring the gel...I've read about sanding, compounds, and now I have looked at the vert-glass system...I'm planning on getting started this coming up weekend...A good friend who does body work has everything we need to wet sand...
I said all of that to ask this...what should I do first? There are a few options and I'm just not sure what to begin with...do I sand? Use a gelcoat resto like Meguiar's or 3-M? or try a vert-glass kit?

Josh- Always use the least aggressive product that will do the job. Try an area with the buffer and one of the restoration products, if this doesn't do it then go to the next aggressive product, probably a compound. If the compound doesn't work go the the wet-sand. I've used the verti-glass and wasn't all that impressed with the results considering the work. 3-M fiberglass oxidation remover is a good starting place, it that does't achieve the results you want use a good compound followed by a finishing polish and then wax. I'm sure someone that has done body work will be able to help you with the different products.
just remimber that the veraglas if for above the water line only.
