Visited my daughter in Brandon this past week and got to fish RB for the first time since 1995. Fished half a day with a buddy I haven't seen in over 14 years. Had a blast! We fished both the pads up river from Tommy's as well as the blowdowns and flats up past Ratliff Ferry. Caught most of our fish on the edges of the pads throwing a Texas-rigged Junebug worm. Biggest fish was only around 2# but we caught quite a few.
This was a totally different experience than fishing Bull Shoals Lake where the water is really clear, very deep and lacking in any structure other than ledges and some brushpiles put out by the Game & Fish. I fish these waters with light fluorocarbon line (10# Seaguar Invisiz) and that didn't work all that great on the pads and pad stems. Too abrasive for fluorocarbon which abrades pretty quickly. Broke of twice on good fish. Guess when I get back there I'll have to rig up some 20# XT![]()
