Fished Ross Barnett Reservoir with an old friend yesterday while visiting my daughter in Mississippi. We caught a mess of buck bass up shallow and a few nice keeper females in the 3# to 4# range a bit deeper. Mostly on Texas-rigged worms and lizards. Biggest problem we had was staying away from all the darn crappie fishermen. We had a Triton bassboat with 4 guys in it pull up within 3 feet of us and start fishing for crappie. Thought for a minute they were going to tie up to my buddy's Ranger 519

I have to say that fishing vegetation and other structure on a shallow lake with murky water is a LOT different than fishing a deeper lake with gin clear water like Bull Shoals lake in N. Arkansas. I may have to come back in a few weeks when the females finally come in shallow for the spawn. Toss a lizard into the lily pads, wait for that 6# female to take the bait and then hang on! Doesn't get much better than that
