More invasive mussels found in Susquehanna

DARLINGTON, Md. — Maryland environmental officials confirm that zebra mussels were found attached to a boat at Glen Cove Marina on the Susquehanna River in Harford County.

It’s the second time the alien species has been spotted in the Maryland portion of the river. A zebra mussel was found last month inside a water intake at the nearby Conowingo Dam hydroelectric station.

The alien species has been blamed in other parts of the country for costly damage to water supply and hydroelectric intake pipes.

The zebra mussel is native to Eastern Europe, but traveled to American lakes on ocean-going ships. It is being spread by boats that move from one body of water to another.

Maryland’s invasive species task force plans to meet next month to formulate a comprehensive plan

Please check your boats guys.....I just pulled this off another billboard, but I tought it pertenant to post here.
