Get a can of engine tuner from your local dealer, about 10 bucks. Park the boat somewhere ya can get water to it and anything ya wanna kill,IE weeds etc.Don't do this on your driveway as momma will kill ya when she sees the black everywhere..... Follow directions on the can. Do this on an evening when you can take the boat to the lake the next morning and run her good for at least 15 minutes. Come home and change plugs and you're ready to go.
I've always used Seafoam. It's great stuff.
I have a 2004 225ho and am getting ready to de-carb mine also.I have read were after you get the tuner sprayed in the throotle bodies, to pull the plugs and soak all the cylinders, turn motor by hand several revs, then let stand horizontally over night. My question is should the motor be completely cooled down before doing this?I have read about blowing out cylinders before re-installing plugs. Thanks for any feed back.
All I do is run a portable gas tank to my outboard, and use a can of Seafoam with 1 gallon of gas. I run it about 15 minutes, shut it down for 5, run it again 15 minutes, etc...and never get it over about 2,200 RPM's. Once the tank is empty, hook your normal fuel line up and take off. You can then use a can of Seafoam per tank of gas as a maintenance dose after your shock treatment.
Buy a can of BRP engine tuner and the directions are on the can(very easy). Dont over complicate it.
