Soft Plastic rot on Swimbaits?? White , Nasty??

Any tricks you guys have to get rid of the smell or the whiteish funky old plastic that accures when the bait has been sitting in the Plano box to long?? For example the Ospreys tend to get all nasty if left in a Plano box to long right where the line goes through?

well have no idea how to fix that, but ill suggest baking soda. thats what ive heard to put in gun cabnits to soak up the moisture along with rice
