I use powder paint and cure it in a toaster oven; it is a tough finish. It is a little tougher to do with weedless jigs, but it can't be beat for toughness.
I just made some jigs and painted the heads with Component Systems' Vinyl Lure & Jig Finish. I put on a primer coat with their white as recommended on the bottle, then 2 coats of black. I tried them on riprap/rocky banks in the CA Delta this last weekend and couldn't believe that the stuff didn't chip. Every store-bought jigs I've tried have chipped instantly in those rocks.![]()
so is there anything we can buy like at wally world to paint these jig heads that water wont affect the paint???
Wally World paint.... hmmm
You might try fingernail polish. It is fairly tough (nothing like powder paint) and it should be waterproof.
i use the same paint as 896j said up above with a final coat of clear fingernail polish/protector. and the jigs look very nice look very glossy almost wet and are tough as nails.
so where do you get this paint he is talking about???
You can get good vinyl paint in a very wide variety of colors from http://www.barlowstackle.com
