Recent History

Original Starter recently gave it up approx 3 months ago. Replaced that with an aftermarket, Sierra I think (Company out of east, TN).

All was good for several trips. On my last functioning outing the tach quit or went intermittent. I recently trailored to the ramp and had smoke coming out of the cowl when I got to the ramp. Removed cowl and the stator/rectifier connectors were melting. Obviously, I disconnected the battery at this point and went home. After researching this site regarding rectifiers (mine was 1993 original) I ordered a replacement. Upon inspecting, disconnecting the stator/rectifier leads the stator connector/insert was melted as well as the rectifier connector. Questing, the wiring (two yellows) on the stator lead is still pliable and not hardened at connector but the connector housing itself is shot. My hope is that I can find a replacement connector. Are these available without having to get into an assembly?
