I too would like to know.![]()
Well I personally love to throw jerkbaits in the prespawn all the way up to when even some bass are on their beds. Find flats near where they spawn or where you see any signs of beds. The biggest factor when fishing jerkbaits is how long to let it pause. When I go out the first time without knowing anything I usually start the pause at 5 seconds (actually count it out) and twitch then pause 5 seconds again. This is where I start and I keep switching my pause length until the fish tells me I have it right. When spawning comes around I havent had the best luck pulling big pigs off their beds but anything finesse is usually best. Whatever you feel the most confident in is what I would go with because anything from a drop shot worm to a jig will work. Just play around till you find it. After the bass spawn its usually time for the panfish to spawn up here in Michigan. So anything that resembles a panfish or any kind of prey causing a threat to their newly hatched fry will usually trigger a strike. Hopes this helps a little, but I still have MORE then enough to learn myself!!![]()
Thanks for the tips.I went out today, the temp was 64 but we had some tonados come by the other so maybe wait a week of good weather. Getting ready to buy some new baits for spring. thanks![]()
64 is a good temp. IMO your prolly going to have fish in all three phases here so if it stays this way in a week fish to whatever your strength is! The majority of the fish will prolly be bedding but there will be plenty for the taking if you would rather fish power rather then finesse!! Good luck in buying new lures that the only good part about the off season!![]()
flukes and jerkbaits
