    Lower unit removal question

We are trying to remove the lower unit off an 86 evinrude XP150. My question. How do we get to the small bolt that is located on the top of the shift rod?? Everything else is lose, but we cannot seem to get to that bolt.

    Please help, Thanks!!

Re: Lower unit removal question (shootincyclone)

Pull the VRO bracket off the intake manifold and move aside. Use a flex driver with a 3/8' socket on it. Off it comes. The fun begins when you try and install it. .

ON the front side of the intake manifold there is a metal bracket that holds the VRO (fuel pump) remove the two 7/16" head bolts that secure it to the intake manifold and move it out of the way. You'll have better access to the shift rod pin.
