Model J200STLCDR Ser. #G7161473 While idling out of a shallow bay, motor up in the tilt range (not quite far enough) struck an underwater stump. Motor kicked up from impact and then went down all the way to the transom. Operating the trim/tilt switch causes the trim motor to operate but little movement is seen in the trim rams. Cannot check for proper fluid level as motor will not trim and tilt. No fluid is visible around the cyclinders. Have swapped out both the relays but problem still exists. Have the OEM shop manual for this motor (not aftermarket manual). Constant operation of the trim switch for several minutes did move the trim rams out once, this happened very slow and the rams appeared to trim in at a normal rate but I have not been able to replicate this action. Does this sound like a broken drive coupling or have I lost one or more of the valves in the system? Did notice when I opened the junction box to change the relays there was a black tar like material on the plugs on the relays.
