What is the correct way to check whether a recirc valve is good or bad??

Remove it from the motor use a syringe with isoprophyl alcohol (I use a turkey marinade injector) and 1/8" hose try an push the alcohol through on the nipple side if it goes through the valve is bad. You should only be able to draw through the screen side. best way to clean them is to let them sit in some engine tuner overnight. Then lightly brush the screen.

I guess, I've always done it the way I was trained and followed the manuals.I wouldn't want to apply too much vacuum as it may pop the membrane inside. I wonder how you would apply the vacuum tester to the back side of the valve?
