    Lake Limestone

Anyone ever heard of it? Fished it? Any information on it at all would be helpful. Thanks,

    Re: Lake Limestone (cwill)

The locals call it "the rock" for good reason.

I have fished it several times, it can be a hard lake to fish.

Maybe I should just save that money and go fish Fork instead

Fish it a lot, fishes like Livingston, but better. Hardly any boat traffic. Like Livingston it can be tough in the winter. The majority of the bass are shallow < 10ft.

I can show you some areas on a map, if you'd like.

If you have a chance to fish Fork, take it over Limestone. Limestone is a challenging lake to fish; and at the best, the boat traffic usually minimual. I have fished it when the hydrilla was so thick that you could walk across sections without ever getting wet and at other times when you couldn't find any. Very few places to stay on the lake.

    Re: Lake Limestone (bgibson53)

I fished Limestone while stationed at Fort Hood on several occasions both for fun and TX's. I actually won a TX there skipping tubes way back under boat docks. We also did well with flukes/senkos on isolated patches of grass. I like the lake.

    Re: Lake Limestone (beetle)

I have a place there and spent Thanksgiving week there. I fished 4 days, 3-4 hours a day and never got on a pattern. Found lots of shad, but they were dying off, and I couldn't buy a bite. I caught a couple, but they were pretty random. The lake is about 3' low and the boat ramp on the west side of the dam is pretty shallow right now. No grass to be found anywhere on the south end of the lake. I saw 3 boats and a jet ski in the whole time I was on the lake. Hope that helps.

    Re: Lake Limestone (jaybo)

Just south and east of Groesbeck, not far from Mexia. If that doesn't help, it's halfway between Hearne and Buffalo (driving North/South) off Hwy 79, and halfway between Marlin and Centerville (driving East/West) off Hwy 7. If that doesn't help, it's southeast of Waco about 70 miles, and north of Bryan/College Station about 70 miles.

    Re: Lake Limestone (Triton Chris)

we fished it in june and my buddy caught a 9 lber on a crakbait in 8 ft of water there. lots of fish in that lake, but they can be hard to catch. I would go to fork if i was chosing between the two.

I left out Thornton and Jewett too. I tried to pick places that people might have actually driven through.
