    2005 225 ETEC

    mod e225dplso

I have this engine and the thing has blown up aagin. I had a new power head put on in January of this year under warranty. Well the motor is now out of warranty and the same piston went out again. My question is why is this happening and if I put a new power head on this thing out of my pocket what are the odds it will do it again. There were no faults or anything else on the motor when the shop looked on the computer. The dealer I bought it from no longer sells the ETEC Anyone here no what should be my next step.

Did the dealer check the boats fuel and oil system when he installed the power head?

Are there any overheat codes stored in the EMM?

    This engine has extended warranty.

No codes the power head the put on was a fully dressed 2008 power head. That is what makes me not want to try again. Unless I can fix what is causing it.

I would ask the dealer to run a fuel system vacuum test (after its fixed) with a clear hose attached to the fuel line, if there are air bubbles in the clear line you have an air leak, if the vacuum runs above 1.5 at idle you have a fuel restriction.

Either will kill a motor over time, any motor.

This engine has an extended warranty, right?

No I did not. I got the three year warranty with this engine. I was told it expired in January. Do you see something different? I called customer service and they said that it had an extended warranty but the extended warranty people told me it did not. I do not know what is going on.

Call the extended warranty company back and give them this certificate number 200500825, this number is registered to you.

You didn't take the cash option or a TV did you?

I don't know why they issued you a certificate number unless you have extended warranty, you are listed as the owner.

You did buy this engine new, right?

Yes it was new on the boat. My initials are EM does that match the name of the owner they have listed.

The name in your profile matches the one on the registration, call FPC and give them that certificate number, no guarantees but it does not hurt to ask.
