    ETHICS---How do you feel

I keep seeing people sell things in the forums that they state was a gift and they already have something just like it or don't want it.

I have always cherished things that someone gave to me as a gift and have never sold anything given as a gift. I have taken something back and changed for a different size or a different color(usually clothes). If someone thinks enough of me to give me a gift it just seems wrong to sell it.

What are your feelings on this? I was just wondering

There are a lot of factors for me. It depends who gave it to me, the situation, and what it is.

I know what you are saying Tom I used to be just like you. I always kept stuff given to me no matter what it was until I ran out of room and had to get rid of some stuff. Clothing was always the worst for me.

I have never sold a new gift I have always used what people give me or exchanged it for something I could use. I have some family members that know I love to fish, but know nothing about fishing. I hate to say it but a Zebco 33 is not going to get used, but the crankbaits I get when I exchange it may though . When I give a gift I always try to include a gift receipt so someone can get something they can use if what I get them does not work for them. I would much rather they exchange it than not use it.

I have had several hobbies. I tend to switch hobbies based on the way the wind blows. There have been gifts that were related to hobbies I got out of that I sold and did not feel bad about it and I do not really think that is wrong to do. I got the intended use out of it.

Now there are also gifts that people have put a lot of thought in. Those are the ones I never get rid of.

I do not carry a knife but have been given quite few that really nice. I will use one for something every now and then.

To exchange a gift for something else is not the same as selling one to me. You do not always get the right size or color.

If I give someone a gift it is theirs and whatever they do with it is up to them.

I thought about it for a long time, then gave Rodney a bag of baits the other day. So he better use them instead of sell them, cause he'll make more money fishing them....

Or.... ( hmmmmm ) maybe not....

They'll never see the water if they aren't shakey head baits! Hey, anybody need a new rod or reel? Rodney will be selling them all "as new" in a couple years, well, all but the shakey head stuff!

After last Saturday someone could have bought boat and all cheap. I did snag one with a crankbait I think he was swimming along and the crankbait slapped him in the face

I liked the Canadian lady better, but had to take her down. I would post in the lounge and get 200 post on the aviator to every one post about the topic
