    Alabama rig revisited

I did e mail the the IDNR reguarding the A-rig.
Here is the response I received back
Thanks for writing. The Alabama Rig would be legal in Illinois for cast fishing, but only in waters that allow up to 50 hooks. In public waters that have a 2 pole and line limit, this rig would not be legal unless only being used with no more than two lures/hooks. In addition, this rig would not be legal for trolling unless it was outfitted with no more than 2 lures/hooks only.

I went thru the Il fish digest book and came up with 429 bodies of water. Of these 429, only 42 do not have 2 pole and line restrictions.

Illinois portion of lake Michigan regulations
Not a 2 pole and line body of water so the A rig should be ok
Dang, 21 inch min length and 1 fish per day limit for lg and sm mouth bass !

I fish tournaments on the Illinios side and i never heard of the 21" size limit before, possibly might not be enforced during tourneys or something, i have literally seen 100s of boats in tournaments keep bass smaller than 21". All the tourneys that i fish are 14" size limits on Lake Michigan.

Lake Michigan size limit varies state to state. Illinois side of Lake Michigan has a size limit of 14 inches and Indiana side of Lake Michigan has a size limit of 12 inches for largemouth and smallmouth. Now that I think about it, it may be 12 inches for Illinois and 14 inches for Indiana, can't remember at this moment....brain fart. Either way same body of water, but size limit depends on state boundaries in which your fishing. Never heard of 21 inch limit either.
