I have 12 Abu's ranging from 2nd gen S model to Gen 3 Premiers and Rockets. Take them apart every winter, clean and grease and never had a failure other than one worn Pawl. Just looking at some of the Lews at stores I swear they look like you interchange most of the parts with with my Abu's.

I have Gen 1 and 2 Premiers, great reels, I fish them hard. I am sure Lews are a wonderful reel also, but since my Premiers are still going strong, I have no need to make any more reel purchases.

At some point I wonder if we'll be honest about reels, rods, etc. and just admit they're basically all the same

In my opinion LEWS are 10 times better than Abu Garcias ever will be and are. Lews are way better and one of the best reels out there. I love me cause I'm on a budget. I just posted this cause its a snow day and I wondered what other peoples opinions.

Ill agree that there's no huge difference in reels as well as rods and other things. I have seen a few reels that would cast light weight baits better. Those Revos are tough as hell and it seems the lews are too. I've got both and neither is 10x better than the other as stated above. Both are great reels. I can always find a lot better deals on Revos, so that's what I own the most of.

Thats like saying all cars are basically the same Yeah they are all cars, but that is the most basic of comparisons you can make.

I'm not one to buy into the "X" brand is the best. There and many options that serve the same purpose and someone swears by each brand. It makes no difference to me, but I'm glad you have the best available.

Thats different than your first statement. Each brand has products that excel at certain niches. There are a few that do all very well.

I do have the best available, Daiwa, Megabass, and G.Loomis NRX

Same statement. They are all the same and there is no best. All reputable brands make high and low end. You obviously disagree and buy into names. Congrats

Ive used abus back to even when thr round c4 reels were big and to this day still fish abus. Your not gonna find a better longer lasting reel imo. Also keep a look on ebay they sell abus decently cheap on there and theyre new. Ive tried lews and shimano and they are good reels but dont last

I don't know how anyone could say that the Abu revo will outlast a Lews, as they are built in the same factory sharing many components...

    This.
Different names and cosmetics but same internals. Many Bass Pro reels share the same design also.

I have both Lews and ABU reels. Some of the Revo's I have had for almost 9 years, no issues. Some of the Lews are 3 years old, and have had issues. The cheaper priced Lews have cheaper components than the higher priced Lews or the Revos. I stopped buying the cheaper Lews reels.

Got 12 Lews from 1-4 years old with no problems. I still have one Revo that was a gift from my son but it's. It close to the Lews. I think they are quite different so try them both and my guess is one will just feel "right".
