I've not ever heard a bad report on Lew's customer service. The 2 times I've had issues (out of 18 reels) it was resolved free if charge, with no questions asked at all. Just an apology for me ever having a problem in the first place-

I just bought a Lews's Super Duty to use as a Punchin' reel. One smooth reel, but no smoother than my STX reels. Really like the Soft Touch armor finish, but couldn't stand the paddle knobs. Replaced the stock handle with the 95mm handle with EVA knobs.
Much better feel. I think it'll be a great reel for a Punchin' setup. But, honestly, I don't see giving up my Revos. I think it comes down to which reel feels better to you.

I have one revo sx and my other 8 casting reels are lews. For the same price as the revo sx ($160) you cant compare it to the bb1. The bb1 hands down blows it away.

They are basically the same reel, can't go wrong with either. Both are great reels, and are made by the same supplier in Korea, and most likely come from the same factory. They also make the Bass Pro brand reels. Go to Gander Mountain or Bass Pro and see which one you like the best.

[QUOTE=KCollins;6010794]Lews has terrible customer service. If you need a replacement part you're screwed. Abu is awesome.

This is in rebuttal for the above. I bought a few of the less expensive Lews™ and the grip was peeling. I sent an e-mail to Lews™ from the website and 'Jaclyn' sent a same day reply and some replacement grips/handles are en route.

TackleWhorehouse™ has a Lews™ on Sale w/a $20.00 mail-in rebate and that specific reel qualifies for some Lew's™ gear, probably a choice. (See: "Sale Items" ) but right next to the Lew's they have a Daiwa Lexa, this is a real nice reel for less than $75.00.

I think you need to be more specific in which reel....big difference between a revo s and revo premier. Which models were you thinking about?

Thats like saying all cars are basically the same Yeah they are all cars, but that is the most basic of comparisons you can make.

I'm not one to buy into the "X" brand is the best. There and many options that serve the same purpose and someone swears by each brand. It makes no difference to me, but I'm glad you have the best available.

Thats different than your first statement. Each brand has products that excel at certain niches. There are a few that do all very well.

I do have the best available, Daiwa, Megabass, and G.Loomis NRX

Same statement. They are all the same and there is no best. All reputable brands make high and low end. You obviously disagree and buy into names. Congrats

Saying they're all the same and then saying that not one brand is best is not the same statement. Yes they share the same purpose, which is the most basic of comparisons. I dont buy into names, I buy into what I buy, test, use, and sell. Unless you've run all the gear, you cannot make the statement that they are all the same. If you couldn't tell, my comment about owning the best was tongue in cheek. Those in my opinion are the best that I have tried. Every Daiwa reel I have owned has spanked my Pure Fishing Reels though in feel, casting, and durability.

Do you really not understand what I was trying to say? You can interpret the comments however you like. I am saying the same thing. They are all the same. Do you think that general statement means I am saying they are all identical part for part and assembled by the same person? All of the this vs. that threads are pointless. You can claim that this one has_____ and that one does______ but they are all basically the same. Therefore, no one brand is best overall or best at a particular "niche." Your sworn-by technique specific reel is a complete opposite of what someone else uses for the same thing. Your "smoothest" reel is a different brand than someone else's "smoothest." It's obvious that you disagree, but is my point really not clear?

You wont understand or refuse to understand. They all do the same thing, yes. Saying a Ford is basically the same as a Ferrari is ignorant though. To each their own.
