    2000 ZX185 w/ 150 VMAX

    Hi guys,

First post here. I'm considering the above boat and before I pulled the trigger I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the boat/motor. If anyone has this rig I'd appreciate any info on prop size/type and prop to pad height, max speed, any useful info you might have, etc.

If I end up with the boat I'll keep this thread going with info on how I'm setting up the motor and whatnot.

    Thanks in advance

    Great rig...

60-64 mph with a 23-25M pro series around 2 in below the pad on a 12 in jackplate.

I have a 1999 model and absolutely love it. It's a great fishing platform for small to medium size lakes and it still fits in a normal garage. I have a VMAX 150 and run a 23M and it's all the performance I could ask for.

Got that exact boat with a non-skid deck. Absolutely love it, fishes like a much bigger boat. 62 mph 23M prop. Well outfitted, lots of storage. Good luck if you pull the trigger on it.

    Re: 2000 ZX185 w/ 150 VMAX (Skinnyside)

yep same here, love mine.. havent been brave enuff to raise motor to correct height as of yet.... course im not the fastest at doing things...lol, but two people and a mobile tackle store onboard and on a cool day can get 58 or so with a 25m prop. no problem...but im at stock motor pad to prop height tho.. i really need to just try and raise it....
anyway great boat, nimble, great hole shot, fishes bigger than it is....

Fishin\' Texas since 1986, dont get no better...

I have that exact boat and will agree with everyone else. It is awesome and seems to fish bigger than it is. Go for it.

Brought the new boat home today. Can't wait to get out there. Gotta move the hot foot closer to the driver's seat though. I have short legs

    Re: 2000 ZX185 w/ 150 VMAX (Ranger391v)

Got the boat out yesterday for an hour or so after a day of thorough cleaning.

    4-9 largie

Waiting on the ram mount to come so I can install the GPS from the old boat. Then I can start tweaking things

What's the lowest water pressure that's acceptable with this motor? I think I may be a bit low...

    Re: (JeffA)

12 - 15 psi on minimum water pressure at WOT. Just be careful it doesn't drop below 12 in turns and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Turns out the indicator arrow goes right over the little peg that limits the water pressure gauge to 30 so I'm well over 30 at WOT. I'm not sure if that made any sense

Haven't installed the GPS yet, but with a friend's handheld we ran 60.5 with full tanks, full tourney load, two guys and empty livewells.

I'm gonna start playing with the motor height this week.

Jeff - thanks a lot. Best of luck with your boat. Gorgeous I tell ya!

If your water pressure guage is pegging it's broken. The pegging is a common thing that happens when the guage has frozen. What does the guage say when the motor is not running and the key is off?

Perfect. It's reading 18 right now key out of the ignition. Now that I think about it it kinda makes sense that that's not right.
