Just recently purchased a Humminbird 586ci for the console. Should I mount the transducer at the livewell intake/drain location? This seems like he best location. I really don't want a thru-hull transducer. Thanks in advance for the response.

I mounted my transducer on the jackplate with a L Bracket and shield from Transducer Shield and Saver. It not only kept me from drilling holes into my boat but it makes it look nicer too!

It seems all the transducers I see on the jackplate are for side imaging. Not really concerned about drilling holes in the boat, I just want to get this in the best spot to be able to see depths while on plane.
There is a a good bit of advice out there about how to drill holes in your boat. But, you'll not likely find any support for it in your boat warranty.
Safe boating...
