2002 Evinrude Ficht

I was wondering could enlightened about when the Ficht problems ended?
When Bombardier purchased them did the problems go away? Reason for
my questions is I have a 2000 200 Ficht that has been giving me problems for the
last 1 1/2 years. Well I blew the powerhead and the dealer says it's $8000.00 for
a remanufactured one and I can get a used 2002 complete Motor for about the same money.
I don't want to repair this motor as I have had one problem after another but
don't want to get another headache if the problems weren't taken care of.
From what I have heard and read the majority of the problems were with
the OMC version. Any feedback is appreciated.

I have an 03-225HO and no problems what so ever. If runs great but if I were gettin a new or another motor I'd get an Etec, but thats just me and my .02 cents

I'd buy this 2005. http://www.bbcboards.net...20688 $9000 with warranty for 3 more year made by Bomb. Or what will you give for mine and I'll buy the one with warranty.

It's a 225, boat only rated for 200.

When BRP started production all the Ficht problems were addressed, any thing built after 2002 will not have the problems the OMC motors had.

The 2001 motors were pretty good motors too.
