Thanks Don, everything is good @ the battery per your instruction but I did not know where the ground was under the cowl.....now I do. I will check that and report back. Thanks

Checked the connections at the starter and all around that area. All seems Tight and well connected.
Thoughts??

I am putting my money on the battery. Take it someplace else and have it tested. Mine did the same with the same battery.
Agreed.
In addition... you might want to disconnect and isolate ALL other connectors from the cranking battery (leaving ONLY the engine cables connected with Stainless Locknuts).
Your comments about the "cycling RPM's" make me seriously suspect there is another cause (not directly related to the trim) that is causing or contributing to BOTH complaints.
If the above does not provide some change.... you may find that a day trip is a more productive approach.![]()

Don, got batteries switched around but could not run the boat due to some much needed popup thunderstorms. I will see you in the morning and thanks for the conversation today!![]()

Fraser:
Did you PHYSICALLY check the GROUND CABLE connection on the engine block (down BELOW the starter.... you need a 13mm socket to remove the bolt, clean the lug of the cable, clean the block surface, reconnect, and verify the cable lug is not moving under the head of the bolt).
Don't "presume" that because the bolt is tight, all is well. That may NOT be the case.
I also agree that having that battery LOAD TESTED somewhere (for accurate results) is a good idea. It's easy to fall into the "The battery is new, so it must be good" syndrome ("New" does not necessarily equal "Good").![]()

Thanks guys. I have had the battery load tested and it checked out perfect. I have also made sure cables @ battery are in the right order and are secured with lock nuts NOT wing nuts. I have NOT loosened the ground bolt(s), cleaned, re installed so that I can do. In the pic I attached, can you see the bolt in question? Just want to make sure I am looking at the right one. Sorry for all the questions about something that is probably a simple fix.
