when I idle out of a no wake cove, my overheat alarm comes on after about 5 min. of idle at 1200 rpm or less. do you think it may be a the poppet valve(if it has one) or just need a new impeller. its an 02 Yam. VMAX 150 carb.

New water pump needed. When was the last one you put in? Only good for 2-3 years.

never, i've had the boat for a year and the dealer i bought it from said they had replaced it a few months earlier
does this motor have a popet valve, and at what rpm does it open. this boat was ran in a sandy river most of its life.
Pull the poppit and check for debris keeping it open a little...If clean, you need a new impeller..

And that can shorten the life of a water pump drastically.
