In an effort to increase my water pressure, I think I need a new water pump/impeller on my 225 HPDI VMAX. What the parts cost and complexity of doing this myself? Anyone who's done or plan on doing this soon feel like creating a "how-to" guide?

http://www.bassboatcentral.com/sttips.htm Here's a link to changing a merc water pump. The Yamaha is about the same. Its a pretty easy job just be careful getting the snap cap off the top. I think the impeller is around $25 and the kit is $50. Most people only need the impeller. You might want to check the poppit valve if you still are having water pressure problems..
I replace my every impeller every year just as a precaution. I'm sure it doesn't need it each time but it eases my mind by doing so. It is easy to do. The link in the previous post is a good guide. I have a 150 Vmax. TR21 is right about the snap cap. Take slow care it taking it off. Other than that if you are mechanically inclined at all you'll be fine. Also, I use a little grease when placing the o-rings back in the impeller cover to hold them in place while repositioning the cover.

I would just go ahead and purchase the metel cap and plastic cone that goes just above the pump housing. They are very hard to get off without damaging them So for the cost and time it is easier just to cut them off and replace them. They only cost arou 8 bucks each. Good luck
