    Trailer adapters 7 blade,5 prong

Soooo....Not a whizz when it comes to trailers and I hope someone can help.I currently have the round I believe 7 blade female connection on the back of my truck.Six prongs and one in the middle.I used a four prong flat adapter to pull my old boat trailer with.I am picking up my new boat next week and it has five prong flat male end on the harness from the trailer.I was told the extra prong is responsible for releasing the trailer brakes. My question: Can I simply get an adapter and be all ready to go??My concern is that I go to pick up the boat and the brakes will not release and I am scrambling trying to figure it out.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Okay so checked the pinned post with the wiring diagram for 7 blade round. It looks to me like I need to check and see if I have a blue wire going to my female plug on the truck,am I correct? If I do and it is valid then I should be good to go..no???

You can run a ground wire to the plug (Blue) for the 7 to 4.

But the easiest thing is to get a 7 to 5 adapter. You can get one at Wally world or any auto parts or camping store.

Also, it's possible to lock out the brakes when backing with a actuator key that fits in the slide.

You need power to the CENTER pin of the 7-Round connector when you are in REVERSE.

IBoats.com will get one to you quick. My Wally World did not carry the 5-7pin adaptor

What tow vehicle do you own? If it is a ford they didn"t install the reverse trailering relay in there fuse box and you will need to get one from the ford house.

All you need is the 7 to 5 pin adapter.
