I use 24 gauge wire from wal-mart back in the craft section adn a regular pair of needle nose pilers
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
this is what I use

Mike, Don't buy the auto return models... Get the manual model. The return spring is stronger than the wire and wont work well. I have thrown out several pairs trying. I have been the one posting this info for years since I owned a lure company and made thousands and thousands using these tools. Also, Don't get the long pair.Get the one for $48.30 http://www.aircraftspruce.com/...s.php
I use 24 gauge copper craft wire in many colors. Lots of guys like the red wire. It will break with too may twists. The key is the pulling the tag ends after two wraps only and then twisting snug. Dont let the twisting do the tightening. 22 gauge is harder to find but is better for a beginner to start off with. Mine is made for the "beadery" company and offers many colors.
