Hello, I have a 1999 Johnson 225ho and it has been running very rich at idle. I replaced the fuel line to rule out any possible air leaks, replaced the recirculation valves as one of them was bad, but it is still very rich. My mechanic told me to turn in the idle orifices a little and see if that helps.
I turned them all Clockwise 1/4 turn and it didn't seem to make a difference, turned them clockwise another 1/4 turn and still didn't seem to make any difference. I hit the primer just to verify that it was still getting plenty of fuel and the motor did want to die out when i would hit the primer. So my questions are:
1. Is Clockwise the correct way to turn them to Lean out the mixture and how far dare i go without risking a problem?
2. Anyone know what the stock setting is (How many turns out from seated all the way in?)
Thanks for any info and feel free to offer any other opinions of other things to check as well.

Steve
