$3400 too much or too little for 1998 Intruder 150HP?

I talked with my friend and I think I can get his Intruder for $3400.00 Is that a good price or an OK price? It would come with the Oil jug and 2 stainless props. i need new controls if I do it and a wiring harness I am guessing.

This motor was a dealer hold over and was in dealer stock for a few years. It is really only been in service for 6 years. I told him that compression and lowerunit seals need to check out.

I want a good deal on this motor and I am wondering if this price is it?
Will my fuel economy improve over a G150?

    Thanks,
    Greg

SOLD all the above Fall of 2010 - bought a big open bow Larson "family" boat. Family does not like the Mississippi River as much as I do, so I sold that in the fall of 2012.
I'm thinking it is time for a straight up bass boat.

Why do you need new contols? You can get a harnes adapter for about 50 bucks.

    What kind of props?

Several dealers have told me I need to upgrade controls??

Is the adapter harness a BPR item? Do you know the part number?

If it's a carbed intruder with 2 stainless props thats reasonable.Just make sure it's not a FICHT faststrike.OMC threw the intruder label on some of the FICHT models. If it's a true carbed one that's about the last year they made the intruders/faststrikes.Great motors!! About the controls,Iknow they have an wiring harness conversion for 91-95(60%) motors to convert them to a check light system, but whether it adapts to your assumed gt 150 controls I'am not sure of that. Perhaps seahorse or champion man know for sure.

I changed from an 89Gt175, ie the same basic engine as you have to a 96 200 Venom. My controls worked fine, I bought a harness adapter for about 50 bucks that plugged into the red plug at the engine end of the wiring harness, and hooked everything right up.

The only thing I didn't have is a system check gauge. If you want all that, you need to run a newer model harness.

Get the newer oil tank that comes with the intruder if you swap.
