    Yamaha Fat Shaft Conversion

Anybody coverted a Yamaha to a Merc fat prop shaft. I did a few seraches and didnt find much.

Yamaha skinny prop shafts bend real easy.

What does it take who does it. I'm guessing Hydro Tech, but not sure.

Somebody told me it could be done, about all I know.

    Thanks, Billy

    jim,

your right, I called HT today and they don't do them anymore. They shot me stright and told me they didnt hold up. I'd have to do the sportmaster conversion and its not cheap.

I could dang near buy a sportmaster with a black motor on top for the same money.

Re: Yamaha Fat Shaft Conversion (ProV4Me)

I bought a new sportmaster sent it to HT and they cut and welded the drive shaft and shift shaft so they would fit the yamaha plus they make an adaptor plate to go between the motor and lower unit.
About 2100 plus the cost of a sportmaster. You could put a coned torque master on also.
