A buddy of mine has a 2008 P4 with a Yamaha 200 hpdi. He was told the only diffrence in the 200 and 225 is the computer. Is this TRUE? If he changes the computer will it give him the extra 25hp??? Has anyone tried this and if so ' how much gain did you see?? Thanks for any help
Is his 200 a 2.6L or 3.3L? That will make a difference because the 200 is the largest horsepower in the 2.6L range.
If it's a 3.3L, then it is true that the ECU (computer) is the main difference between the 200 and 225. The throttle cam - the black plastic stop the throttle linkage hits against on the intake - is also different on the 2 motors. The travel is limited on the 200.
And yes, there is a legitimate 25 hp in changing the ECU and throttle cam. Seen it on the dyno!
Matt what's it cost to change ECU?
If it is a 2006 and newer we can re-flash it, so it requires you sending your ecu $650.
The 2005 is a 16 bit processor and we do not have that program
