There is no specific "hour interval" for reed replacement.
Reeds can be inspected, and reed standoff can be "measured" to ensure that it's within the service tolerance (maximum reed standoff from reed block is .020").
I do not recommend the use of most aftermarket reeds. They can alter the airflow characteristics of the engine, thus altering the air/fuel mixture provided for proper combustion (PCM cannot "compensate" for any "mechanical" changes in airflow... airflow for any particular throttle setting is a "pre-programmed, non-variable, and fixed value").![]()
We DO offer TDR Reeds, that were specifically designed for this engine series... and maintain proper airflow characteristics (the only aftermarket we recommend).
